Ordered a beer and a coke as a reward for our walk Ordered a beer and a coke as a reward for our walk back up the hill! They always give me the coke and Jeff the beer!! 🤣 even though I order the beer!! But he does drink half of it! And we positioned ourselves well, by the fan!! (So hot!!) We were lucky with the weather, certainly had the best of it. The highest bit of the island and Fira were shrouded in mist and low cloud as we approached Fira and it's chaotic bus station to get our connecting bus home.
It was a bit of a walk from the drop off point. Al It was a bit of a walk from the drop off point. Along a road initially, then dirt track, a bit of a scramble down to the beach. As you can see, there have been lots of landslides and a lot of beach has been roped off, which the majority of the people chose to ignore. We ended up down the far end, but the sea was really rocky and quite rough at times. Rather than the relaxed beach day we'd imagined, we stayed a couple of hours, enough for a swim and a bit of lunch.
Today's adventure was to the Red Beach at Akrotiri Today's adventure was to the Red Beach at Akrotiri, as we fancied a beach day and in all the guides, it's down as a 'must see' beach. We're glad we went, but we wouldn't go again. We've realised why we've never had Santorini on our 'must go to' list. It's the beaches....they're not our sort of Greek white pebbled cove
